As the most popular and well-known tourist attraction in Lao Cai Province, Sapa is a frontier township and the administrative center of Sapa District. It is considered to be the most beautiful place in Vietnam’s northwest.
PERFECT SEASON TO VISIT SAPA
The weather in Sapa is well-balanced throughout most of the year. The seasons are divided into the Dry Season (October – April) and Monsoon Season (May – September). When the humidity is low and the temperatures are generally warm, March through May is the best season to visit Sapa. Although it does rain occasionally throughout the year, the monsoon season sees the most precipitation.

The air becomes much drier at this time. The sky is covered with so many clouds that you can almost touch them from your room window. It would also be the greatest time to visit if you prefer terraced fields when they are green, this would be the best time for you to visit Sapa. This is the time when trees start to blossom, you will find yourself getting lost in the beauty of this heavenly place.
September to November
Between September and at the beginning of November, rice is ripe, the entire town takes on a new hue, a dazzling yellow that covers the hills. Typically, this is the most popular time of day for visitors to Sapa. You should visit in the middle or end of September, though, as it won’t be as picturesque in October because so many fields will have been harvested by then.
December to February – Winter in Sapa
In winter, the weather in Sapa is very cold, wet, drizzle and foggy. It seems to be colder than other places in the North of Vietnam. But traveling to Sapa in the winter must be an incredible experience. The whole town will be covered with fog under the low temperature and snow.
